christmas  - 2000

Christmas 2000 finds me experiencing my third Christmas in China. Since Christmas 1998, when a few scattered remembrances of Christmas could be found here, this year, Christmas has exploded in China. The trees, the lights, the Santas are everywhere - in the stores, in the shops, in the restaurants. Everyone seems to have their cell-phones ringer set to "Jingle Bells".

It is a sign of how quickly China is changing. I have been lucky enough to be here to see it.

And I have met many, MANY new friends. Life in China is amazing!

To my family, my friends (both East and West; old and new), and especially my students whose futures are being shaped before my eyes: I wish you all the best, because you deserve the best!

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Sheng Dan Kuai Le, Xin Nian Kuai Le, Guo Nian Hao!
