| imagesdalian大连Dalian is a beautiful city in the Northeast China's Liaoning Province. Once known as Port Arthur to westerners, it was a part of Manchuria and governed by the Russians and occupied by the Japanese. It's a young city, by Chinese standards (less than 200 years old), but it is strikingly beautiful-lying as it does, on a narrow peninsula between the Bo Hai Gulf and the Yellow Sea. Clean and modern, it is known to many as "The Hong Kong of the North". A beach at Dalian through Teacher Donna's lens. Photo copyright © 1998, Donna James
