A river runs through it. |

Well, a stream anyways. In the Yan Dan Mountains in southeast Zhejiang Province. It's the first clean, clear water I've seen in China.

Suzhou U. Bridge |
|
The bridge at the back gate of Suzhou University. I crossed this bridge everyday on my way to classes or to play basketball. There was an old guy who repaired shoes outside the small house in the picture. Whenever I would pass by with my basketball, he would stop me and ask me to spin the ball on my finger. He got a kick out of that.

Lake Tai (Tai Hu) |
|
One afternoon, Katrina and I were returning from a day in the village near Lake Tai (Tai Hu). (See Chapter 12 of Chuck in China). Driving along a winding coastal road cut into the side of the mountains, we came around a bend and were met by this beautiful view. I yelled at the sanlunche driver (3 wheeled taxi) to stop and I took this picture.

Suzhou Smile |

While walking down the street, this old guy saw me and broke into a big smile. So I grabbed my camera and snapped this pic.

Twin Sister Pagodas
|
|
This is one of the twin sisters of Suzhou's Twin Pagodas. They are located near Suzhou's City Center, but it is difficult to locate the entrance lying in the back hutongs. So they are sparsely visited making it my favorite place to relax - away from the tourists (foreign and Chinese). The two pillars framing the view here are the remains of an ancient temple which was on the site, but destroyed by the English during the Opium Wars in the 1840's. The ruins have been preserved as a reminder of that atrocious war. |

Secret Village

A small village near Tai Hu. It's not on any map, and I'm not telling you how to find it. Read about it in Chapter 12 of Chuck in China.
