New Stuff
This Page, for one. And the logo here. It was designed by a friend of my sister's named Scott Hebbard, a graphic designer from Atlanta. Thanks Scott!
The Cultural Evolution: Hey, let's have a little culture here at Chuck @ China. So I'm starting a page. I've a keen interest in Chinese poetry. May I introduce Su Shi (a/k/a Su Dong Po), Song Dynasty poet and The Mid-Autumn Moon
Festival.
A Call for Papers: Any of my students, past, present, Chinese or American who are interested in seeing their work on the Net, I welcome your submissions. You may submit them by
e-mail to me.
Note to current students: You may give them to me on disk. If that's a problem and it is short enough, I'll type it from your hardcopy. But no fair giving me a paper that's due in someone else's class just so you can have it typed by me. I'll charge you U.S. Dollar Rates ($20 U.S.D./hour) if I you try that ploy! :)
Weather Report: Updated the Surf's Up (Links) page so the latest available Jinzhou weather shows on the page without having to leave this site.
Bugs:
Lots of them here I know. I'm still working out a lot of the bugs on these pages so please be patient. I've fixed a few more. Let me know of any you find.
News Stuff - The Best and Tritest
The Best
Cuyahoga Community College - one of the colleges I've taught at has been named the third best community college in the entire U.S. of A. by Rolling Stone magazine. Congratulations, Ellen! (And I know I owe you a bunch of e-mail. Soon, soon!)
China's Central Government just raised the speed limit on the trains here so it's even quicker to get around. There's lots of trains here and you can get anywhere very cheaply. Amtrak should be so lucky.

My cousin Barb and her friend Michelle are coming to China over Thanksgiving. I'm gonna meet 'em in Beijing. Barb needs a new boyfriend so if you're gonna be in Beijing during the last week of November, let me know and I'll see what I can do. She's picky, though.
The Tritest:
Teacher Kerryn recently wowed them by getting up onstage and singing a few songs at the Casablanca here in Jinzhou (Yes, that's what the joint is called. And no the owner's name isn't Rick.) When asked what he thought of her rendition of "I've Been a Bad, Bad Girl" (apropos), one of the locals was quoted as saying
"Who cares! She has Huang Tou Fa!"
I'm not making this up. I played basketball at a local middle school this weekend and they had to stop the game because the kids kept running on the court after I made a basket to get my autograph. They were chanting "Cha Ke! Cha Ke! Cha Ke!". I signed 30 or 40 autographs in both English and Chinese. I signed a
couple of them "Michael Jordan" because that's who I felt like at that moment. Without the equivalent paycheck of course. Maybe I'll start a shoe company here. Call them "Air Cha Ke's". Have a " ~ " (tilde) logo, too instead of a "swoosh". Whaddya think?
