Salon.com

Salon

One of the first "new media" magazines on the Internet was Salon.

I started going to Salon in 1995 for a daily dose of news and reality re: the world. (In Internet years, 1995 = "ancient").

So I was more than happy to contribute a piece to Salon in 1999 on the hilarious results when western movie titles are translated into Chinese:

"Chinese Movie Titles"

Then in 2001, Salon turned subscription-only for the good stuff.
So I (and a host of others) no longer read it.

  Such a shame.

China Radio International,

China Radio International

The Chinese equivalent of VOA, interviewed me as part of a story called "Intrepid Travelers: Foreign Friends in the Middle Kingdom". It's a story about how foreigners spend the Chinese Spring Festival while here.

You can access the story at CRI's website here.

The story was broadcast internationally on Friday, January 26, 2000. But you can still hear me on the Internet in Real Audio by clicking here Audio  It's a long download. My interview is at the beginning of the show.

The blog was  a  short-lived experiment ... abandoned.... I prefer the Chuck@China website format. But the archives are still up on the web.

Blogspot is blocked in China so if you are inside China, use this link to get around the block.
