Zhejiang University Summer 2000 Program

How I spent my Summer Vacation, 2000

I spent the summer of 2000 in Hangzhou at Zhejiang University teaching an intensive summer English program. Hangzhou is a nice city. It's the other half of that famous Chinese proverb:

Shang You Tian Tang
Xia You Su Hang
(In Heaven there is Paradise
on Earth, there is Suzhou and Hangzhou)

Zhejiang Univeristy is a wonderful school and the Xixi campus where we held our classes was lush and beautiful (though the cicadae throughout the campus often turned  our morning classes into a shouting match between I and them-still it was better then contending with the taxi horns in Jinzhou ).

Best of all, though, were my students. They showed up everyday through the summer Hangzhou heat in an un air-conditioned classroom and worked hard on improving their English skills. In our four short weeks together, their English skills improved quite a bit. That's their viewpoint. From my viewpoint, I made 30 or so new friends.

So I want to commemorate the Zhe Da Summer Program 2000 students on the Internet. "I will remember them forever!!!"
