Four Years Ago...

... we entered Zhejiang University as freshman. Zhejiang University is one of the top five universities in China. In July, 2003 we will graduate. Each of us chose English as our major. Each of us has had a turning point in our study of a new language through the years - be it in middle school. university, or just everyday life.

Recently Chuck, our Writing and Rhetoric teacher, asked us to write essays about our most unforgettable moment in learning a new language. It was an assignment from our textbook: College English Composition: Developing An Argument (Nanjing: Nanjing University Foreign Language Press, 1997). The assignment included the suggestion that the essays be compiled into a booklet for English Learners. Since this is 2002, he suggested that we compile our essays into an Internet Website so that others can benefit from our experience

This is our record of those moments when we went beyond the mundane...when  we crossed the threshold between learning a new language and REALLY learning HOW to learn that new language. We hope it can help others to cross that threshold, too.
